REDD+ Landscape / CCAD-GIZ
The Program Objective is the reconstruction of forest resources in relation to the landscape, as part of the REDD+ approach in Central America.
Using this approach, the program seeks to improve environmental services in the intervention area, while contributing to the design of new forms of land use for agriculture and forest management.
The REDD+ Landscape / CCAD-GIZ Program seeks to create the necessary conditions for the emergence and development of compensation mechanisms for ecosystem services.
Also the Program seeks to determine the historic development of various types of land use, particularly agriculture and silviculture, along with future trends for possible CO2 fixing.
This program is implemented under the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
